Frequently asked questions
What is Protergates?
Protergates is a technology awareness site. We publish plain language news, quick tips, everyday hints, step by step guides and case studies about AI, cybersecurity, privacy and the tools people use every day.
Who is Protergates for?
Anyone who uses technology and wants to understand it without jargon: busy professionals, parents, older adults, students and small business owners. You do not need a technical background.
Is Protergates free to read?
Yes. Every article is free and you do not need an account or a subscription.
What topics do you cover?
AI tools and chatbots, scams and fraud, account security and passwords, privacy settings, software updates, data breaches, and real incidents that show how attacks happen and how to avoid them.
What is the difference between news, tips, hints, guides and case studies?
News explains what changed and why it matters. Tips are one minute fixes. Hints are small habits that make you safer. Guides are step by step directions for bigger tasks. Case studies look at real incidents and at our own research studies.
How do you make sure articles are accurate?
Every article links to its sources, starting with primary sources such as official announcements, vendor documentation, regulators and company filings. We say when something is uncertain or differs by country or device, and we update articles when the facts change.
Who writes and reviews the content?
Articles are produced by the Protergates editorial team, drawing on our experts in software architecture, AI research, cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity. You can read their backgrounds on our Expertise page.
How do I know if an article is up to date?
Each article shows the date it was published and, if it has changed, the date it was last updated. Settings and menus change often, so if your screen looks different, look for the nearest match or check the linked official source.
Do you show ads or track readers?
No. Protergates has no advertising, no analytics cookies and no trackers. Our web server keeps basic technical logs to run and protect the site, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
Do you sell or share my personal information?
No. We do not sell or share personal information with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else. Our Do Not Sell or Share page explains this in detail.
Can you help me recover a hacked account or a scam loss?
We cannot give one to one support or investigate individual cases. If you have lost money to fraud, contact your bank immediately and report it to the police or your national consumer protection or fraud reporting agency.
Can I share or quote your articles?
Yes. You can share links freely and quote short excerpts with a clear credit to Protergates and a link to the original article. Please do not republish whole articles without written permission. See our Terms of Use.
I found a mistake. How do I report it?
Use the form on our Contact page, tell us which article and what is wrong, and include a source if you have one. We correct errors and note the update on the page.
Can I suggest a topic?
Yes. If there is a setting, scam or new technology you would like explained, send it through our Contact page.
How can I follow new articles?
Subscribe to our RSS feed at protergates.com/rss.xml in any feed reader, or visit the News and Tips sections, which list the newest articles first.
